OMT is a minimally invasive and highly effective individualized program to treat incorrect patterns of oral and facial muscle functions. We teach the importance of nasal breathing, lip seal, correct tongue posture and swallow/chew patterns and how to tap into the neuroplasticity of the brain to restore normal function. Though OMT (Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy) is new for many, its influence in dentistry has been around for centuries. In the 1960s, orthodontists pioneered OMT exercises to assist in re-educating the atypical swallow for orthodontic stability.  More recently,, evidence -based research by  pediatric sleep experts concluded that OMT is a viable treatment option as Snoring should never be ignored in children! Many adults experience sleep disordered breathing (SBD), migraines, neck or shoulder pain, difficulty with swallowing or speech and these may be related to a persistent tongue tie which are often overlooked and misdiagnosed  and written off by many healthcare providers.
